Teacher Instructions for Use
5 minutes prep, 15-20 minutes activityThis wordsearch is designed for Year 3 pupils studying the 'Under the Sea' topic in Geography, specifically focusing on the Great Barrier Reef. It serves as an excellent starter activity to introduce vocabulary, a plenary to consolidate learning, or a fun homework task.
- Preparation: Print out the wordsearch grid (which will be generated using the 'keywords' provided) and this instruction sheet for each pupil.
- Introduction: Briefly introduce or recap the Great Barrier Reef and its importance.
- Activity: Distribute the wordsearches. Explain that pupils need to find the words listed. Encourage them to use a pencil to circle or highlight the words.
- Support: For pupils who may struggle, suggest they look for the first letter of each word. You could also pair them up.
- Review: Once completed, go through the words as a class, perhaps asking pupils to share which words they found first or found most challenging.
Extension Activity: Define and Describe
